Rev Shayne BlackmanWelcome to one of the most exciting Indigenous initiatives in Australia today.  The Congress Community Development and Education Unit Ltd is one of the nations leading Indigenous development organizations that is forging ahead into its 25th year since its early inception.

Colloquially known as the Shalom Community, CCDEU Ltd works to release and empower Indigenous people to reach their full potential and to contribute to the shaping of the Australian nation. We promote prosperity, harmony and vision throughout Indigenous Australia by equipping Aboriginal and Islander people with the skill set, knowledge, affirmation and self confidence to face the future with vigor and purpose.

We do so through a broad range of development activities across a broad spectrum including schooling, aged care, and rehabilitation to construction and publishing but to name a few.  Undergirding all of our activities however is the common denominator of education.  It was once said by Mahatma Gandhi that ‘education is the great leveler' of people regardless of their socio-economic backgrounds and how true that is.

Education in its many forms is proving to be the mechanism that is lifting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders from the shadows of doubt and uncertainty to the new heights of empowerment and purpose.  The many stories of personal transformations across the Shalom Community are testimony to this fact and can be viewed right here.  These achievements however are by no means achieved in isolation.  They are the result of many dedicated people who are part of our growing community working to realize God's purpose for the First People's of this nation and to those entrusted to our care.

We have come a long way but still have a long way to go.  Our Indigenous successes continue to be undergirded by our many supporters in Government, Non-Government, the Church, the private sector and concerned individuals who contribute to the vision of CCDEU Ltd on a regular basis.  Their valuable support has helped create and sustain many progressive avenues and pathways that empower Indigenous people to realize their many and varied aspirations in a caring, culturally supportive environment.

Consistent with our desire to engage the broader community into our vision we invite you to become a supporter of the Shalom Community and in doing so help ensure a true and lasting reconciliation in which indigenous inequality and injustice are banished to the annals of this nation's history.
